Meme Exchange

Meme Exchange is a non-profit cultural association based in Ravenna promoting sustainable urban regeneration and the recovery of neglected spaces, working together with the Officina Meme and Atelier Francis architectural firms on the experiment of temporary urban re-use. In particular, Meme researches the informal re-use of spaces in the Ravenna City Docklands, re-using abandoned spaces for architectural, craft and design projects. The activities aim to experiment, renew, promote and propagate a culture of urban reuse and of restoring artistic territory and heritage in an innovative way.
The TSN Meme project is one of the four pilot projects selected for the Ravenna City of Culture 2019 bid and, thanks to the ‘Experiments in Urban Reuse’ project, it won the ‘INCREDIBOL!’ 2014 award for innovation and creativity in Bologna.

ACTIVITIES
Meme Exchange’s objectives are to promote the active involvement of local businesses; to strengthen relationships between the community and public spaces through the experiment of using events as a tool for bottom-up regeneration and to create international partnerships.
The Piattaforma XL co-working space was developed from an experimental activation process, as a natural response to the desire to regenerate a cultural and social fabric based on the strength of creativity and professional cooperation.
It is a former shipyard covering an area of 220 sqm which now offers the perfect opportunity to share work and discover collaborations and common interests.
