On/Off

The association On/Off was founded in 2013 with the aim of co-managing Officine On/Off, a project and innovative space promoted by the Department of Youth Policies of the City of Parma and conceived by the coop. Gruppo Scuola. The aim is to give members the opportunity to consolidate their transversal and professional skills, use collaborative spaces and innovative services, interact with institutions, networks and businesses in the area, and have a social impact on the community. Over the years, it has specialised in the creation and management of collaborative work spaces such as coworking, orientation and training in entrepreneurship and the development of transversal skills, and in customised digital fabrication, technological innovation and experimental prototyping through the management of the FabLab Parma.

SPECIAL PROJECT 2020

When the emergency broke out, FabLab Parma realised it could make a difference, contributing to the community with its technologies and skills. During the lockdown they were able to listen to and intercept the needs of the social and productive ecosystem, aggregate and activate offline and online know-how and professionalism to solve concrete problems, and support businesses in the processes of experimentation and innovation of tailor-made products and services. '783 – Per una ri-apertura su misura ‘ [‘783 - For a tailor-made re-opening'] is On/Off's resilient response to the Covid-19 emergency. By the end of 2021 it is expected to:

• • increase the income generated so as to ensure the sustainability of the FabLab Parma on the one hand, and to acquire margins to reinvest in institutional community activities and social innovation projects on the other hand
  • expand the operating team and optimise production processes
  • increase its capacity to intercept the needs of local cultural and creative industries and to provide co-designed and customised solutions to cope with future emergencies
