Fondazione Golinelli

Fondazione Golinelli was created in Bologna in 1988 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Marino Golinelli. It is the only example in Italy of a completely operative private foundation, inspired by the model of US philanthropic foundations and dealing with education, training and culture.

It promotes a responsible cultural development of citizens in all fields of knowledge. One of its most important objectives is to supply younger generations, the citizens of tomorrow, with tools and directions in order to grow responsibly, socially and civilly, so as to favour the development of ethical behaviour and create a more cohesive society.

ACTIVITIES
Fondazione Golinelli develops innovative projects that connect schools, universities, researchers, companies and the working world and integrate art, nature and human sciences and technologies. Since 2015, its activities have merged with those of Opificio Golinelli, a citadel for knowledge and culture. There are six main areas:

• School of ideas: to promote creativity from early childhood;
• Science in practice: to ignite the passion for science and technology in teenagers;
• Garden of businesses: to allow younger generations to learn about business culture and reward talent and pro-active action;
• Science in the square: to enable people to discover art, sciences and culture by turning urban areas into temporary science centres;
• Educate to educate: to train teachers on how to use interactive, multi-disciplinary and involving methods through a multi-year national programme;
• Art, science and knowledge: to examine the connections between arts and sciences, stimulating thought and understanding of the world.
