The new programme of Mercato della Musica, March/April 2019

From March 27 to April 17 2019, the Mercato della Musica (Music Market) is back every Wednesday, with meetings for young musicians and operators who want to make a profession out of music. In the event room of the Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica di Bologna, (International Museum and Library of Music), the best professionals of the music industry will lead the audience into the understanding of the activities required to create and run a music project. The aim is to provide strategic know-how to start a professional job, offering an outline but also a deeper analysis of the various aspects and contexts related to the music entrepreneurship. The meetings will be held, from time to time, by: Salvatore Papa, music journalist, Giorgia Boldrini, head of the Creative Industries, Music and Urban Regeneration Office of the City of Bologna, and Pierfrancesco Pacoda, music critic and expert in the recording industry. First meeting on March 27, hosting project leader of Sentireascoltare, Edoardo Bridda. He, together with Salvatore Papa, will lead us into the world of the music webzine, talking of how to build publishing and multimedia contents and how to run a newsroom. On the following Wednesday, April 3, Emiliano Colasanti and Giacomo Fiorenza, founders of 42records, the independent record label that launched the two artists Cosmo and Colapesce, will dialogue with Salvatore Papa about the role of a record label in the successful career of an artist. On April 10,  Lucy Latham, project manager of Julies’s Bicycle, will conversate with Giorgia Boldrini on how to organize a music event, sustainable from the environmental point of view. The meeting will be held in English and is part of the H2020 European project ROCK, coordinated by the City of Bologna. Last meeting on April 17, when Giovanni Serrazanetti, art director of the restaurant & wine bar Cantina Bentivoglio, will have a conversation with Pierfrancesco Pacoda on artistic direction, management and scheduling of a jazz club like his. All the meetings are held between 5 and 7,30 p.m. inside the International Museum and Library of Music in Bologna, with open and free entrance for everybody until seats last (no reservation required). The meetings are organized by the Music Office of the City of Bologna, in cooperation with the Istituzione Bologna Musei and with Bologna Welcome tourist agency, with the aim to develop the music entrepreneurship and improve one’s management abilities.
